The Induction of Jon into the Team Ministry of the Pastorate of the URCiC took place on Sunday 24th June. The service was  led by the Moderator of the West Midlands Synod (Revd Elizabeth Welch).  Others taking part were the Revd Maz Allen, Revd John Johansen-Berg (Interim Moderator for the URCiC), Revd Heather Whyte (President of the Gloucester District of the URC) and the Revd. David Hamblin  of High Cross Church , Camberley(Guest Preacher) and former member of St Andrews!  We were pleased to welcome David and Ruth back to their 'roots'.

 At the start of the service the procession of the clergy was  led by Julie Jefferies (Chair of Vacancy Committee) carrying the Bible. Music for the service was provided by the St Andrews Organist, Peter Meason,  pianist Andrea Board, and a United choir made up of singers from the three Churches and St Christopher’s who sang an  Introit composed by Jon Morgan

During the service there were bible readings by Jo Morgan (Jon’s wife), Katherine and Laura Stagg and John Hutton. There were statements on how the Jon came to be called to Cheltenham . Towards the end of the service, representatives from the three churches of the URCiC, St Christopher’s, Gloucester District of the URC, other denominations and the deputy mayor l formally welcomed Jon to Cheltenham .  

 A gift of 3 different media of music was presented to Jon symbolizing the harmonising of the three churches.

 The Church was nearly full with  members of the three congregations, Jon’s  friends and family, and a  strong contingent of members of the congregation at Blundellsands.  

During the tea that followed Julie presented Jon Johansen-Berg with a gift to mark the successful end of his duties.
