United Reformed Church in Cheltenham
Harvest of Flowers

Prestbury

The ladies of the Prestbury Flower Arranging Club transformed Prestbury URC with their imaginative arrangements on the subject of ‘Harvest’. Large pedestals were in the vestibule, lobby and Church, every windowsill was decorated, a large four-tier construction was at the front of the church and the communion rail and organ were surrounded by glowing arrangements. Even the balcony was decorated!

Every day the church was busy with a stream of visitors to see the flowers, to sample the cakes and to buy tickets in the two raffles. In the style of Chelsea – every flower arrangement had to go and many visitors were keen to win one.  Major talking points were the building plans for the church which were on display as well as an old photograph of the church taken (we suspect) in the late 19C.

On Sunday the wonderful flowers welcomed the congregation to Harvest Festival and we were pleased that the Church would still look so beautiful for Eva’s funeral on the Monday.

The event raised £1040 for the Building Fund. Grateful thanks must go to Lindsey McGowan and the Prestbury Flower Arranging Club, the church members and friends who provided cakes and staffed the church for the weekend, those individuals and companies who sponsored the arrangements and donated the generous raffle prizes and last but not least, to all those friends from Prestbury and the URCiC who came along and made the event such a success.
