Prestbury Cross
As part of the Bishop of Gloucester's continuing initiative to raise the profile of Easter, St Mary's and Prestbury URC will jointly raise a Cross on Palm Sunday outside the URC.
Before the Palm Sunday Service at 10.15, everyone will meet outside St Mary's and the congregations will walk in procession to the URC where they will be joined by other members of their congregations. The Cross will then be dedicated and decorated with palms before being erected outside the Church in full view of the village.
On Easter Sunday members of the congregations of St Mary's will again be present in the URC as a garland of flowers is placed on the Cross as a symbol of the Resurrection. The Cross will remain until the following weekend.
Passion Play
The Prestbury Passion Play is a long-standing tradition in the village which takes place every few years. It is produced by St Mary's but members of all the churches in Prestbury take part. It takes place on the Scout Field in the Burgage (opposite the Royal Oak) but will move to St Mary's if it is wet. Entry to the performance is free
Agape at St Andrew's
The URCiC is joining with St Christopher's for this meal and service to mark Maundy Thursday.
The service starts with a hymn, prayer and reading, then, rather like the Last Supper, all sit for a token meal of soup and bread. This is followed by the first part of the Communion. There is then served cheese, biscuits and fruit. The second part of the Communion is followed by the Blessing and then coffee and tea.
Please contact your Church Secretary if you would like to attend this service as places are limited.
